Melania Trump descubre en Tokio las perlas japonesas (fotos)

La primera dama estadounidense, Melania Trump, pudo descubrir este domingo el arte japonés de las perlas de cultivo en el lujoso barrio de Ginza, en Tokio, mientras su esposo jugaba al golf con su par japonés en el marco de una gira asiática.

Melania Trump estuvo acompañada de Akie Abe, esposa del primer ministro Shinzo Abe, durante la visita la tienda insignia del productor de perlas Mikimoto, una de las paradas de su programa de visitas culturales.





Japón es conocido por la calidad de sus perlas.

Las dos mujeres accedieron a un “piso secreto” del edificio para mantener una conversación, de la que no trascendió el contenido.

Mikimoto había previsto un encuentro con algunas “ama”, las buceadoras tradicionales que se sumergen en apnea para buscar perlas, equipadas con gafas de buceo y un recipiente de madera.

“¡Fantástica visita con Abe hoy! Disfruté de la conversación tomando un té y de la presentación cultural sobre la historia de las perlas”, tuiteó la primera dama estadounidense.

“Me preguntaron sobre la profundidad de las aguas en las que nos sumergimos y cuánto tiempo puedo estar sin respirar”, contó a los periodistas una de las buceadoras, Miaki Okumura, de 57 años.

“Respondí que la profundidad era de entre 5 y 6 metros y que podía contener la respiración entre 40 y 50 segundos”, explicó, añadiendo que Melania Trump se quedó impresionada.

“Parece una persona muy amable y además es muy linda”, dijo.

La otra buceadora, Saki Satonaka, de 22 años, contó que Melania Trump la felicitó por su debut en este oficio, que practica desde hace un mes. “Voy a guardar un recuerdo maravilloso de lo que ocurrió hoy durante toda mi vida”, aseguró la joven.

Melania Trump y Akie Abe posaron para una foto con las dos buceadoras pero no hablaron con la prensa. También miraron una película sobre las perlas de cultivo.

La empresa Mikimoto se creó en 1899 después de que Kokichi Mikimoto, conocido como el rey de las perlas, lograra cultivar perlas por primera vez en el mundo en 1893.
